Description:

Introduction
Supply chain management controls the flow of materials, information, and products from suppliers to customers. Earlier, companies handled purchasing, production, and marketing separately, which made overall planning difficult. Today, companies understand that actions taken by one part of the chain affect all others. The effects of inventory on SCM (Supply Chain Management) play a major role, as poor inventory control can increase costs and delays across the supply chain. Organizations now compete as supply chains rather than as individual firms. With the growth of information technology since the 1990s, companies can coordinate suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers more effectively. As a result, supply chain management has gained strong attention from researchers and industry professionals.
