Description:
Women’s participation in the workforce has increased over time. In earlier years, social and cultural rules limited women’s education and job opportunities. Many women did not get equal access to education, and organizations often restricted them from entering certain professions. Society also expected women to focus mainly on household responsibilities and childcare.
Over time, this situation began to change. During World War I and World War II, many women joined the workforce and worked as factory workers, secretaries, and salespeople. From the 1970s onward, more women started attending colleges and universities. They began building careers in fields such as law, medicine, business, and management. Better education and career opportunities helped women become more independent and confident.
However, women still face several challenges at the workplace. Many experience a gender pay gap, where they earn less than men for similar work. Some women face the “glass ceiling,” which limits their chances of reaching top management positions. Issues like workplace discrimination, lack of opportunities, and harassment also affect women’s growth. Despite these challenges, women continue to work hard, contribute to organizations, and play an important role in economic and social development.
