Introduction

Cloud computing allows people and businesses to use software, store data, and access databases through the Internet without owning or maintaining physical hardware. Users can work from anywhere at any time, which improves flexibility and productivity. Cloud platforms also grow or shrink easily based on business needs, making them cost-effective and scalable. Through the adoption of cloud services, organizations run applications online, share information faster, and manage operations more efficiently. Services like online office tools show how users can access programs through a browser across many computers. Overall, cloud services simplify technology management, improve accessibility, and support modern digital business operations.

Objectives of the Study
  • To identify the main reasons SMEs adopt cloud-based solutions.

  • To examine the extent and areas of cloud adoption in SMEs.

  • To study the impact of cloud analytics on business decision-making.

  • To analyze the challenges faced during cloud adoption.

  • To evaluate how cloud services improve operational efficiency.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This study explains how small and medium businesses adopt cloud services. The researcher first reviewed basic concepts and theories related to cloud computing. The study then used a questionnaire survey to collect data from respondents. After collecting the responses, the researcher analyzed the primary data and supported the findings with relevant secondary sources.

Research Design

The study follows a descriptive research design. This design helps present a clear picture of cloud service adoption, the reasons behind adoption, and the challenges faced by small and medium businesses. The research also follows an ex post facto approach, where the researcher observes existing conditions without controlling any variables. Simple statistical tools like averages and percentages were used to analyze the data objectively.

Mode of Data Collection

The researcher used a survey method with a structured questionnaire. The questionnaire gathered information about usage patterns, benefits, and difficulties related to cloud services. This method helped collect direct opinions from business owners and decision-makers.

Population and Sample Size

The population included owners, managers, and decision-makers from small and medium businesses. The study used purposive sampling to select knowledgeable respondents. A total of 50 respondents participated.

Data Collection Methods

Primary data came from a 15-question multiple-choice questionnaire. Secondary data came from books, journals, research papers, and company reports.
